The Brief
For this corporate entertaining dinner at Melbourne’s Royal Exhibition Building, the ask was clear: create a bespoke experience for clients, led by a celebrity chef, that felt considered and intimate, despite the scale of the venue. The real challenge was making the room feel close and personal inside a vast, historic shell.
We Imagined It
We built the night as a progressive dinner, designed to shift in pace and energy across arrivals, dining and a supper club finale. We collaborated with chef Shaun Quade, using the format to give guests a sense of discovery – moving them through distinct moments rather than seating them for one static experience.
We Designed It
We leaned into Shaun’s strange, quirky persona and embraced a bold, unexpected creative direction. The design played on contrast using projection mapping to animate the space and keep the room in motion. We ran LED lighting down the length of the table and used digital spotlighting to illuminate each place card directly onto the setting. Large ice sculptures, encasing florals inside, added a sharp, visceral centrepiece – tactile, luminous and slightly surreal.
We Made It Happen
Team Event led the creative ideation and content design, alongside full technical production and end to end menu curation. We brought the moving parts together -creative, technical and culinary – and delivered a dinner that felt deliberately staged, not simply hosted.
What the Room Felt Like
The first reaction was immediate: the wow of walking in, paired with a vast sense of scale. Then the intrigue set in – projection mapping moving across the tables, light details revealing themselves up close, and the room shifting around the guests as the night unfolded. It felt intimate by design, even inside one of Melbourne’s grandest buildings.
