The Brief
Mecca Max came to us to create a public facing activation for the 2025 Melbourne Grand Prix, celebrating their role as official makeup partner. The space needed to champion the Zoom range, drive product trial and purchase, and offer a limited edition gift with purchase, all while giving guests somewhere to pause in the shade and capture a shareable photo moment. Beyond the product objectives, the deeper need was clear: stand out in a high-noise environment with a build that felt unmistakably Mecca Max, and worked hard across retail, brand and experience at once.
We Imagined It
We imagined a shipping container takeover – a bold, mobile feeling structure that could operate as both retail space and product showcase. Fully wrapped for maximum brand exposure, the container became a beacon within the Grand Prix footprint, with integrated photo moments designed for social sharing. To keep people in the space longer, we layered in a shaded dwell zone with umbrellas and bean bags in Mecca Max brand colours – equal parts practical respite and strong visual cue. The creative direction took cues from the Zoom range and translated it into a motorsport-adjacent world that felt fast, graphic and high impact.
We Designed It
We transformed a shipping container into a purpose built environment for the GP audience. Inside, we designed and custom built the retail layout and product displays to support makeup applications and sales, keeping everything aligned to the Mecca Max Zoom look and feel. Even the staffing details were considered: uniforms were finished with custom patches to extend the brand language into the team on the ground, ensuring the activation read as cohesive from every angle.
We Made It Happen
This was a full delivery – design development, renders, custom builds and large-format graphics, all executed within a tight production schedule. Working in a greenfield space, we managed site requirements and the realities of install and operation on location. Our team was onsite for over a week, overseeing build, delivery and site management to bring the activation to life and keep it running smoothly across the event.
What the Activation Felt Like
It landed as a bold, confident build – the kind of activation that doesn’t blend in, even in a sea of major brands. Guests gravitated to it, stayed in it, and engaged with it. The activation proved its retail strength too: makeup sold out multiple times throughout the weekend.
"From design to execution to last minute updates, you handled it with such professionalism and grace. Three years in and you continue to step it up, setting such a brilliant benchmark for what this partnership and our activation can be."
