Delicious Produce Awards
A landmark night at the State Theatre NSW, transforming a formal awards show into a decadent foyer party celebrating Australia’s best produce.

The Brief
After several years of a cocktail style awards format, Delicious Magazine wanted to mark the centenary of the State Theatre NSW with a return to a formal theatre production. The challenge was making the venue work twice over: the foyer needed to host a pre-event red carpet and media moment, then transform into a decadent post-show party with food stations that celebrated the themes and produce of the awards.
We Imagined It
We leaned into the theatre’s inherent grandeur and made arrival feel chic and intentional – a black carpet approach with a media wall, framed by the scale and elegance of the venue. Waiters were styled and made up to match the setting, extending the sense of occasion from the first step inside.
Inside the theatre, the stage was kept simple and cost-effective, anchored by a large rear projection screen to maximise content, while lighting was used to hero the intricate proscenium and amplify the theatre’s character rather than compete with it.
Then, the mood shifted completely. When guests re-entered the foyer after the show, it became an absolute party: food stations reset and ready, a DJ playing from the balcony, and waiters moving through the room with trays of champagne to keep the energy high and the flow effortless.
We Designed It
As a team of foodies and designers, we relished the chance to work with exceptional produce and built four decadent food displays that celebrated key categories.
Each station had its own identity. We created custom marquee light signs to give every display a bold, celebratory marker, paired with elegant graphic menu detailing that made the offering feel curated and deliberate. One of the standout moments was the seafood station, with produce frozen into ice – a striking, tactile centerpiece that made the ingredients feel premium and theatrical.
We Made It Happen
Guests were welcomed with a glamorous Moët champagne tower on arrival, setting the tone immediately. From there, the night ran as a well-oiled event machine: ushering guests smoothly into the theatre, getting them seated, and calling a tight awards show with precision and pace.
During the performance, the foyer underwent a dramatic transformation. By the time guests returned, the space had been reset into a moodily lit celebration, with decadent food stations taking pride of place and the room designed for connection — giving producers, industry professionals and media a refined atmosphere to network, celebrate, and stay for the full experience.
