PORSCHE 911 TURBO S — LAUNCH CONTROL
With operations at Sydney airport at an all-time low due to Covid-19, Team Event took this once in a lifetime opportunity to launch the new Porsche 911 Turbo S, with its ‘launch control’ feature, on an actual, working runway. Involving multiple stakeholders and months of planning along with strict safety sign off, the event was considered the most ambitious drive program Porsche and Team Event had ever engineered.
VIP guests arrived in small staggered groups, being welcomed and undergoing safety briefings in our luxurious hospitality marquee. Shuttled over to our ‘pit lane’ on Runway 16L/34R in a fleet of Cayennes, guests then paired up with the Porsche Track Experience team before driving the Turbo S 2.2km down the runway and reaching speeds in excess of 300km/hr. The exercise took less than 30 seconds to complete, but will most likely never be repeated in this lifetime!
